  30. Dear Hariesh

A very interesting and informative site for those unfamiliar with the industry.

I have been working in shipping since 1983.

I worked for several well known shipowners in the UK and also in Germany and Belgium working in different areas of the business including operations, container control, break bulk, pricing and sales.

In 1994 I started my own company called Wavecrest Ltd.

Our office is located in the port of London directly next to the River Thames so we have a great view of all the shipping movements up and down.

Wavecrest Ltd operates regular shipping services from the UK to South Africa.

At present we ship a lot of personal effects and cars for returning SA citizens to ports such as Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town as well as used trucks and commercial freight.

Please have a look at my blog – http://wavecrestlimited.choseit.com or web site http://www.wavecrest.co.uk for more information about our activities.

If you would like to add my blog to your blogroll, I would be happy to do the same for you too.

    Good luck with your site.

    Best regards,
    Glen

I’m very lucky to have come across your blog. I am new to shipping, carrying out some research into Liberian companies, Chinese, Korean…the list goes on. Am also interested in a company whose ships often go through South Africa which you may well know. An ongoing list of questions should you have the time or inclination to answer them!!! A great site anyway, so thank you for your efforts

  42. Hi Dear,

I am doing some research and need ur help.Wonder you can assist me in providing me the info on the implications between liner shipping and tramp shipping to port opreations and management?

Pls also advise me the source where you found the information.

    Thanks

  43. VAT: INCOTERM 2000 EXW do you have to show vat on invoices for SARS, If a cross border bussiness have work done / modifications in SA do they have to pay VAT

  44. Mr Manaadiar,

We ship product from USA to SAF for a company based in UK. Then SAF pays UK and UK pays us here in USA. For nearly two years now the shipping company has agreed to show the shipper as the UK company on the ocean bill of lading. They have since changed there policy and will no longer do this. They require that the shipper be a US company in the case that product must be returned. The UK company has told me that they can not receive payment from SAF in the shipper of record is a US company. Is this the case and are there alternatives if the BOL is now required to show US shipper?
    Thanks!

  45. Hi Scott, that would entirely depend on the legislation or practice prevalent in the US shipping industry..
